Safety and Security
The Southside neighborhoods should provide an atmosphere where individuals and families can live, work, and play without fearing excessive risk, injury, or violence. Providing a safer and more secure community will enhance educational attainment, provide an environment for economic development, and improve the quality of life for residents and guests. Three major areas have been identified to address the community’s safety and security needs:
(1) Physical safety (lighting, traffic control devices, cameras and motion/intrusion detection devices)
(2) Processes (information gathering, statistics, communication)
(3) Programming (youth outreach programs, crime watch, healthy environment, community engagement).
